Piano Academy Amsterdam

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to play the piano, or you have always played the piano but you need to get back, or to stay in shape, then you’ve opened the right page!

Piano Academy Amsterdam is a newly established private piano lessons practice by Vanya Marinova – a Bulgarian concert pianist. Vanya has years of experience as a piano teacher and as an accompanist. She moved to the Netherlands in April 2015 and is now working as a music teacher at the Bulgarian School in Leiden.

Vanya is doesn’t speak Dutch just yet, which is why the Academy is mainly oriented towards Expats, who live in, or around Amsterdam Area. However, Dutch nationals, willing to take piano lessons in English, are also welcome and encouraged to do so!

Solfege is a very specific teaching method. Lessons are usually given to people, who either already are professional musicians, or aspire to become professionals. Solfege can be thought at different levels – from primary school students to graduates, and from post-graduates to professional accomplished instrumentalists and singers. Hence, before putting a price on the solfege lessons, it is essential to determining the specific needs of the musician, creating a custom-made programme to help you achieve your goals.

What we can promise you are very fair and reasonable prices, as well as very high quality, work ethics and professionalism.

Musical Accompaniment

Musical accompaniment is a lot more demanding but it is also a lot more interesting and rewarding for the pianist. Plus, it usually requires longer hours in bulk. In other words, there are upsides and downsides to it. That is why we don’t have a fixed price per hour for musical accompaniment. Instead, we prefer to negotiate every project as a whole and make it fit your needs, your budget and your vision, as well as our availability. Pricing depends on the length of the commitment, the difficulty of the project, etc.

What we can promise you are very fair and reasonable prices, as well as very high quality, work ethics and professionalism.

Meet Vanya

Vanya Marinova

Vanya Marinova is a Bulgarian concert pianist, who has dedicated her whole life to music. Her talent was spotted early on by her music teacher in primary school, who urged Vanya to apply to the prestigious National Music School “Lubomir Pipkov” in the heard of the capital Sofia. After years of preparation followed by a national exam, Vanya became one of only 20 students to get accepted that year.

Vanya was a top student at music school, winning a number of national and international piano competitions. So, it was no surprise, when she got accepted at the State Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” immediately after finishing school. Vanya graduated cum laude from both her Bachelor and Master degrees in piano, and has over 25 years of work experience as a lecturer, accompanist, and a concert pianist.

After graduating, Vanya worked as a lecturer at the State Music Academy and at the National Music School, while running a very successful private lessons practice. She was also privately working as a freelance accompanist with singers and other instrumentalists, preforming and recording with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra, and a number of smaller choirs and chamber orchestras.

Bulgarian National Radio Mixed Choir

Before moving to the Netherlands, Vanya worked as an accompanist for the Bulgarian National Radio Mixed Choir. In addition, she formed a very successful duo together with the concertmaster of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra – Miroslav Stoyanov that performed  in private cocktail parties and official government receptions in Boyana Residence in Sofia.

Vanya and her students at the Bulgarian School in Laiden

Vanya moved to the Netherlands in early 2015 to live with her son and daughter, who are both working and studying in Amsterdam. She currently works as a music teacher at the Bulgarian School in Leiden. Vanya already has a few private piano students but she is looking to expand her private practice and to include solfège lessons and accompaniment to her portfolio. Vanya doesn’t speak Dutch just yet, but she can teach and work in English, Russian and Bulgarian.
